Frequent travelers on this route (by road & by train) will definitely know the following:
1. Karjat vada pav
2. Sri datta snacks - misal, vada, sabudana khichadi
3. corn cheese burger (food mall near kholpli)
4. Lonavala chikki (Purohit, Maganlaal, A1)
5. Indrayani veg dhaba - near talavade old mumbai pune highwy
6. Sunny da dhaba (food & flavored hukkah) - near lonavala old mumbai pune highway
7. Vada pav, Big beans, in Indrayani (train)
8. Veg cutlet, omelet in Deccan queen & all mumbai - pune trains.

Cat recently visited Sunny da dhaba & enjoyed the delicious food served there.
The Khansama - "Mr. Anil Kumar" is amazing person - His preparation Paneer Lasooni is just awesome... Cat was obliged to meet him and shake hands!
After visiting this place, cat learnt that paneer lasooni can be served with greenish white gravy which is equally mouth watering as red gravy.
At unknown places cat prefers having vegies, gravies, curries, etc with plain roti / plan bread, rather with flavored or special varieties. ICO (In cat's opinion) Flavored or Special(?) varieties of roti / bread will not give the same fun to your taste-buds.
Indrayani dhaba is delight for veggies. It is a whole veg dhaba - a one of the rare scene near highways in Maharashtra. In Rajasthan, it is exactly the other way round - finding the non-veg dhaba is a skill. Cat will talk more on veg dhaba in Rajasthan in coming posts.
ICO(In cat's opinion) while ordering rotis @ Indrayani dhaba, - ask special rotis (kulcha, naan, other options) with little or no til / seasome.
Not many would have got the opportunity to taste vada-pav in Indrayani train!!!. Try it once - beyond this, there is not much to comment & this applies to cutlet in Deccan queen.
Big-beans - a western breakfast menu is served well in these trains. Veg cutlet & omelet are probably the most favorite breakfast menu in all mumbai - pune trains.
