This is (typically) one of the most important festival in Rajasthan. Jaipur's Gangaur is famous worldover. The festival commences on the first day of chaitra, the day following Holi and continues for 18 days.
Gan - Lord Shankar & Gauri - Godess Parvati.
This is the festival of married woman and maidens. In my opinion this festival is the most auspicious celebration of "Love". Women forsake food (holy fast - meal once a day or other appropriate methods) for their love's well being.
The "Ghewar" is characteristic sweet dish.
One more I got from my colleague (Sushil Bansal) is "Guna". Foodiecat is interested in talking about Guna. This is a cylindrical sweet made from Maida and comes with varieties of design. We have attempted the 'engineering way' of representing this!!! I have tasted this & I bet that anyone would love it.
